Regional Transportation Coordination funded by a grant from the SC Department of Transportation, LSCOG is also a Regional Transportation Management Agency (RTMA).

We formed a Regional Transportation Management Association to bring together the operators of transportation services for people in our region. This association has a policy committee composed of an elected official from each county and a Technical Advisory Committee made up of organizations with a stake in serving people with transportation services. Finally, we formed a "Partners Group," of the organizations providing public transportation in the region, including two transportation authorities from outside the region, who serve counties in the region.

RTMA accomplishments include:

• Development of a prototype regional operations manual;
• Formation of a regional drug testing consortium;
• Regional uniform purchasing;
• Regional identification badge system;
• Development and implementation, by the partners group, of a strategic coordination plan for the region;
• Development and distribution of promotional products and information promoting transportation services in the region;
• Implementation of a regional training consortium;
• Acquisition and launch of region-wide routing, scheduling, dispatching and ridership tracking software system;
• Work to secure funding for region-wide radio equipment to enable operators to be a part of the Palmetto 800 communications system and to be able to communicate across county lines and among operators;
• Coordination initiatives underway in several counties;
