Lower Savannah is the designated Economic Development District(EDD) under the Economic Development Administration. It is the responsibility of Economic Development staff to keep the cities and counties of the region eligible for assistance under the Overall Economic Development Plan (OEDP). The three primary objectives of the economic development program are:
- To improve and expand facilities that will directly contribute to industrial and commercial growth;
- To coordinate planning and financing efforts in order to promote industrial development, job creation, and increased job training;
- To provide technical assistance to the municipalities and counties in the region so as to strengthen their on-going, self-sufficient efforts to recruit and retain industry.
Through its Economic Development Revolving Loan Fund Program , Lower Savannah Council of Governments offers attractive reduced-rate financing to help your business grow and expand. Loans are available for amounts of $10,000 to $150,000. The funds can be used for industrial and commercial businesses, including retail and service sectors. All loans must be adequately collateralized and will require personal guarantees of the principals. An application fee of $500 is payable at the time of application, and a 1.5% loan origination fee will be collected at closing.
